Event: THE 14th EUROPEAN FILM FESTIVAL, PALIĆ

During its many years of tradition, the Palić Film Festival has seen constant expansion. What once was a modest and unpretentious film event has managed to take important place on the map of the European film festivals thanks to many patient attempts to establish a serous film festival of a regional character in difficult times of isolation. The festival was the first point of convergence for the movie industries of the countries of ex Yugoslavia which were at war. It is devoted entirely to European movie production. The novelty at the last festival was the program Young European Authors, which introduced short, experimental and animated movie as a new genre.
The 14th European Film Festival in Palić opens on July 16th and closes on July 22nd. The selector of this year's Competition program is Nikolai Nikitin, the editor of the prestigious German film magazine "Der Schnitt" and the exponent of the Berlinale for South-Eastern Europe. The festival presents itself with 5 programs and keeps the concept introduced in 2003. The 14th Festival will focus on the Norwegian cinematography, and the audience will have the opportunity to see the latest production coming from this country through the New Norwegian Film program, which the Palić Festival is organizing in cooperation with the Norwegian Film Institute (Norsk Filminstitutt).
The Young Authors of Europe program will showcase contemporary trends of the European film production by showing short, experimental and documentary films created in the period between two festivals, as well as a round of concerts of inventive alternative bands from Europe and the region.
Apart from the current film program including various contemporary European production films, the festival organizers announce various accompanying manifestations which will make the stay in Palić an unforgettable experience.
