Modern trends in the tourism's market in nowadays IT society demand constant supplement and improvement of already existing product of tourism even with the most developed travel destinations. What could one say for a travel destination that entered into its 161 season? That it's a long and nice tradition? Yes. That it's a famous one? Perhaps. That it's the perfect one? No, but it's a familiar one. It's about Palić and its environment. At the very north of Vojvodina, where the Subotica sands and fertile loess soil meet, at the shores of lake of the same name in the mid XIX century a summer resort and spa was made, which was considered to be fashionable one at the turn of a century because of wide spectre of possibilities for relaxation, therapy, fun and recreation.
XX century – a century in turmoil in its beginning brought Palić the "Golden age", after which several decades of stagnation ensued with few short periods of prosperity which in the end led to obscurity.
Nevertheless, Palić stood up. Like phoenix rising from the ash, gradually from the 90's it's being back into tourist maps. Today it's among 10 recommended destinations on corridor 10. It can be said that Palić has its recognisable tourist product which is represented through connection of several segments – logically connected in its offer – like lake of Palić and lake of Ludoš. Subotica with its architectural heritage, objects at the lake shore in unique secession style, park-forest, ZOO, neighbouring ranches, vine cellars and stud farm, restaurants and four star hotels, as well as gastronomical offer with plenty of recreational options. Here are included traditional manifestations like Labour day picnic, International film festival and Harvest days.
Significant role in creating new image has "Elitte-Palić", company for tourism and hospitality founded in 1994. By applying the way of thinking stated in the opening of this text and using "step by step" method, company began creating its own image, as well as new image of Palić, not hesitating to integrate in its tourist product everything from the surroundings that was attractive, of market interest, positive and recognisable. Relying on the rule of the thumb: "we know what we have, know what we want and how we can achieve that, to whom it is meant for, and how it can be sold" "Elitte-Palić" is successfully making its way for twelve years. Tourism is not a lottery, where miracles can happen over night. According to a broader definition, we could say that tourism is a process of turning the way of life into solid cash for mutual benefit (and not only a material one) of customers and suppliers of tourist product.
Already mentioned credo "step by step" is present at "Elitte-Palić" in this season as well. In order to satisfy the ever growing demand for quality accommodations, renewing of "Park" hotel lobby and modernisation of "Jezero" hotel bathrooms are taking place at this very moment. Even though both hotels are categorised with four stars, the management of "Elitte-Palić" is well aware of the fact that without constant investments and continuous raising of the quality of service, no progress can be made. As a curiosity, it should be mentioned that all "Elitte-Palić" objects are recorded as monuments of cultural and historic heritage. Accordingly, great care is given to the preservation of these buildings, hence by the start of the tourist season, the facade of "Riblja čarda" will be refreshed and the insides of pizza parlour and café in tennis club Palić redecorated.
The important segment of "Mala gostiona" offer represents guest visits of prominent restaurants, confectionaries and gastro-houses. It is arranged that in July during the International film festival, one of the oldest and best known confectionaries in Europe - "Žerbo" from Budapest will make a visit. Not only for the purpose of enriching the base offer of restaurants, these kinds of visit serve for education of employees as well as for exchange of experiences and acquiring new knowledge in gastronomy and in management too. Negotiations are undergoing about a visit of "Krim" hotel from Bled, Slovenia with whom "Elitte-Palić" is cooperating for three years on reciprocity principle, under slogans "Days of Slovenian cuisine in Palić", that is, "Days of Vojvodinian cuisine in Bled".
For a successful offer of tourist product, well thought advertising and marketing is a must. Therefore "Elite-Palic" has developed strategy in which it is precisely determined to whom the offer is meant and which channels can be used in order to sell tourist product, that is, service which "Elitte-Palić" provides. An important part is also appearances at tourism markets and tourism fairs. In 2006, company has participated in tourism market of Csongrad county in Szeged (February), tourism market of Tourist prism in Novi Sad and International fair of tourism and gastronomy " Utazás", Budapest (March). In April, "Elitte-Palic" had its info stand at tourism fair in Belgrade and in October it will be present at "Lorist" tourism fair in Novi Sad. With the help of Chamber of Commerce, our company will be present at all important expos where Chamber of Commerce will take part. Compact discs have also been produced with the complete offer of "Elitte-Palić", with accommodations that include complete tourist and gastronomic possibilities of Palić and surroundings, while company's website is constantly being updated with fresh information.
We did not forget the guests from the near surroundings, that is, the local market. For these guests, we have prepared gastronomic offer that is mostly based on local customs and dishes traditionally prepared for religious and public holidays. Especially worth mentioning is Sunday family lunch offer with 80 dishes on buffet system, with promotional prices and special musical program and playroom for children. This program has been organised for twelve years every Sunday.
"Elitte-Palić" management and investors are currently developing a strategy of further growth and development of the company, pace of investments in objects in order to stay close to modern trends in tourism and to raise the level of both restaurants' and hotels' service to even higher level. We are planning the addition of pool to Park hotel, adaptation of the loft of "Jezero" hotel, bringing kitchen's equipment and storage facility of "Mala gostiona" restaurant up to date, furthermore the possibility of adaptation of old management building into VIP suites is under consideration.
Special attention is given to continuous education of all employees and to employment of young and experienced work force.
